Cheap Way to Create Personalized Art

I found these little plaster letters at work. They were so cute and were on clearance for a dime each. So of course I bought them :/ I had been in desperate need of a fast craft. Having two jobs and being in summer school seemed to be taking its toll, and left no time for crafting. I instantly had a vision in my head to create a little personalized space for my doggie, Cheedles. Unfortunately, I only had like 4 different colors in acrylic paint. So I mixed and matched my little heart out to create this:

Luckily, one of the colors I did have was black, so all I had to do was mix one drop of it with the colors I did have (or somehow came up with) to create a darker shade for the backdrop of each letter. I did this to give the letters some dimension, and to make them "pop." Then after they were all dry, I sealed them with a couple coats of Mod Podge Sparkle. I swear, I'd coat my LIFE with this stuff if I could... I couldn't live without it! (Click for closeups!)






After everything was completely dry, I found some mounting tape that I had from a previous craft... it was maybe $3 for a whole pack. I chose an area right above my dog's bed, and now thus hangs my finished project!

Oktoberfest Layout 2008

yay new layout! it was really scary because i had never done so many contrasting patterns & textures on the layout before! less is usually more with me, but i went for it! it was really fun and I highly recommend it.


my crazy cluster of random crap. hehe. is it just me, or is it whenever someone laughs and spells it "hehe" it makes it sound like old-man creepy?

i really wanted the white cardstock to be a piece of lace, but i was fresh out of lace :(
it felt like the whole project was getting a little left-heavy (lol), so i added some brads to the right side of the photo to help balance the layout :D

Super Simple & Easy Birthday Layout

this was for my sister's 10th birthday. double digits were VERY exciting!


bit of twill for candles, orange rhinestones for flames :)


i wanted to change the texture of the title for the number 10, but really didn't want to change the color, so i used rubons (they're really letters, a lowercase "L" and an "O" :D)

so, this is more back to my style of scrapbooking; neat, even (i'd like to think!) and not too wild. i've been on a ribbon kick lately and here is installment number 3 of the journey. the picture is actually from this past may. a few of us went to go see the no doubt reunion tour, which was amazing! what a great picture to use for the whole year than one of me at the epitome of happiness :)

i know you can bareeeely tell, but i used crystal gems as the dots after "I love..."


My other love is eyelets. LOVE them. & i've been liking the look of staples for some reason? do YOU like them? hate them? let me know!

New Scrapbook Layouts!

Thanks for keepin in touch guys, even if it's been forever. Life has included lots (&lots) of work & school. But Halloween is almost here, & i will have some projects up for that as well. It is, after all, my favorite holiday.

Here I have posted two of my newest layouts, inspired by Elsie Flannigan. JoAnn's had a bunch of spools of ribbon and buttons on clearance (like, 5 & 10 cents each!), so that really set me on my Elsie Flanningan path. If you've ever seen her layouts, that's pretty much all they are. But oh are they fantastic. My first layout is about my puppy, Cheedles, & the second is about (one of) my best friends, Ashley. Enjoy!


What I like about this layout is that I would never in a million years have done it. I am ALL about straight lines, horizontal & vertical I mean. Plus, I hate the color pink. But, it's time to burst out of my comfort bubble! Plus, I love these little crystal gems to give them a pop of color.





I like this layout because it's more me. The color scheme of blue, green & white is one that I'm more familiar with. It was pretty simple, but I like the feel that the chipboard letters give the layout.

woo! it's definitely been a while in between updates... but a lot has been going on. first of all, i moved! i'm in spring valley now, which is only a few minutes from where i used to be. unfortunately, the very first day one of my dogs ran away :(

i've been working my booty off and i decided it was time to finally get a new camera. mind you, my old camera still works... however, it's from 2000 and it's a 2.1 megapixel haha. one of the first ones that came out. i thought that if maybe i took the batteries out of it i would be forced to buy a new one. 8 months later i still don't have one...i just can't commit to ONE. what if the flash isn't right? i need a lithium battery for sure but otherwise... i need help.

so until that time, i won't be able to post any pictures.

but when i do, it will be AMAZING.
